Premium EV Charging Systems for Solar, Battery and Smart Tariff Homes Premium EV Charging Systems

Intelligent EV charging designed to work with your solar panels, home battery, off-peak tariffs and electrical infrastructure.

EV Charging as Part of a Wider Property Energy Strategy

An EV charger is not a standalone socket. It is a significant new load on your property's electrical infrastructure - and, when planned well, a gateway to smarter energy use across solar generation, battery storage and off-peak tariff scheduling. We specify and install EV charging systems that are designed from the outset to work alongside these technologies, not against them.

Every project begins with an honest assessment of your incoming supply capacity, earthing arrangement, consumer unit condition and realistic load profile - including existing heat pumps, appliances and any planned solar or battery additions. This determines the right charger, circuit protection, load management approach and cable sizing for your property. Consumer unit readiness and electrical infrastructure are assessed as standard.

Where solar or battery storage is already installed, we integrate EV charging with your energy management system so charging can be scheduled around surplus generation, battery reserve and low-tariff overnight windows. EV charging performance and savings depend on the charger, vehicle, tariff, usage profile, solar generation, battery capacity and electrical infrastructure - we assess these factors before specifying equipment.

  • Supply and Protection Assessment

We assess your incoming supply, consumer unit and earthing arrangement before specifying any equipment - ensuring the installation is safe and correctly sized.

  • Scalable Infrastructure

Cable routes and distribution boards sized to accommodate additional charge points without retrospective civil works - useful for growing fleets or second vehicles.

  • Discreet Cable Routing

Concealed containment and careful routing to minimise visual impact - particularly important on heritage properties, stone facades and listed buildings.

  • Smart Tariff and Energy Integration

Charger scheduling configured around off-peak tariffs, solar generation and battery reserve - maximising value from your energy system as a whole.

Electrical Infrastructure Expertise

From PEN fault protection on TN-C-S supplies to dynamic load balancing across multi-bay commercial installations, our electrical knowledge underpins every EV project - keeping installations safe, compliant and reliable.

Built on Electrical Engineering Principles

Founded by Georgi Tangarov, electricalworks approaches every EV project as an electrical engineering task first - surveying supply capacity, assessing protection requirements and planning cable routes before equipment is selected. The result is installations that are safe, correctly sized and designed to work with the rest of your energy system.

Client Success Stories

Homeowners and business clients on the quality of their EV charging installations.

"From first survey to sign-off, it was a clean, professional installation - discreet cabling through the basement and load management we can actually see working on the app."

- Emma T., North London

"They coordinated three-phase upgrades without drama. The Wall Connector looks factory-original - exactly the finish we wanted."

- David L., Central London

"Our workplace rollout was well managed: sixteen bays, dynamic balancing, and clear instructions for visitors. Exactly what we needed."

- Sarah J., West London

"Finally installers who cared about the stone architraves. Concealed cabling and a tethered unit that feels considered - not bolted on."

- Jessica P., Kensington

"They handled the DNO notification, the load assessment and the commissioning documentation. Our FM team could import the pack straight into the system."

Plan Infrastructure Early

Commercial EV charger installation at a workplace

Cable routes, containment and distribution board capacity are far easier to plan before building work is complete. Early EV infrastructure planning avoids expensive retrospective work.

Solar and Battery Integration

Solar panels and battery storage system integrated with EV charging

EV chargers can be configured to prioritise surplus solar generation and off-peak battery energy, subject to charger, inverter and vehicle compatibility. We assess this during system design.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a consumer unit upgrade before installing an EV charger?
Not always, but it depends on your current consumer unit, incoming supply capacity and existing load. We assess your consumer unit and maximum demand as part of every EV charging enquiry. Where the existing board is inadequate or lacks available ways, an upgrade may be required before installation can proceed safely.
Should I choose a 7kW or 22kW home EV charger?
Most UK homes are served by a single-phase 100A supply, which supports a 7kW home charger for overnight charging. A 22kW charger requires a three-phase supply and a vehicle with a compatible onboard AC charger - not all EVs can accept 22kW AC. We recommend based on your incoming supply, vehicle specification and charging patterns rather than headline charge rates alone.
Can an EV charger work with solar panels?
Yes, subject to charger and inverter compatibility. A solar-compatible EV charger can be configured to prioritise surplus solar generation during the day, reducing grid consumption when solar output is available. See our solar-compatible EV charger page for more detail on how this works.
Can I charge my EV from a home battery?
In practice, most home battery systems manage AC power flow across the whole property, which includes the EV charger circuit. Charging from stored battery energy is possible, but the efficiency and scheduling depend on the battery system, charger and energy management software involved. See our battery-linked EV charging page for more information.
What is load management for EV charging?
Load management (or dynamic load balancing) monitors your total property demand and adjusts the EV charger's output in real time to prevent the incoming supply from being exceeded. This is particularly important in commercial settings with multiple charge points, but can also be useful at home where other high-demand appliances run simultaneously.
What is bidirectional charging - and is it available now?
Bidirectional charging allows an EV to export stored energy back to the home (V2H) or grid (V2G). It requires a compatible vehicle, a compatible bidirectional charger and - for V2H - a compatible inverter or energy management system. V2G also depends on commercial and regulatory arrangements that are still developing in the UK. Not all EVs support bidirectional charging. See our bidirectional charging page for a realistic overview.
Can EV charging be planned for a future solar or battery system?
Yes, and we recommend thinking about this during initial installation. Installing a charger that is compatible with solar diversion and smart tariff scheduling - and routing cables with future battery connections in mind - avoids costly retrospective work later. We advise on this as part of every residential EV project.
